Every Tuesday at 8PM since February of 2005, WMSE has welcomed a Milwaukee-area artist into the Bob and Genie Friedman Live Performance Studio to perform a full set live on the airwaves, made possible by our amazing sound engineer Billy Cicerelli. The program includes a 20 - 25 minute live set, an interview with the performing artist and recorded music from other local artists.

Local/Live: May 21 - Dr. Science

Dr. Science originated in conversations between Mike Pauers and Jay Arpin (both members of Clamnation) regarding their mutual admiration of the funk/fusion experiments of Herbie Hancock in the 1970's, specifically his Headhunters lineup.  When they realized they were serious about pursuing this music, they put together a group of like-minded musicians for these further explorations.  Matt Meixner (Five Card Studs, Hudson, Recycled Future) was contacted first, for his keyboard and improvisational wizardry, and Matt suggested that Todd Richards (Todd Richards Group, The Tropics, Recycled Future, Brazzaville) would be a great fit on guitar.  Duane Stuermer (Sweetbottom, Oceans, George Busateri, etc.) was perhaps the only logical choice for bass duties; his long resume and reputation as the go-to bassist for funk and jazz fusion speaks for itself.  With this core group in place, the experiments on stage began in the fall of 2008.

Dr. Science has recently recorded a six-tune recording, and it will be released this coming late summer/early autumn.
