The WMSE Friday Night Freak Show, presented by MKE Film and 3 Sheeps Brewing, is a monthly series happening at the Oriental Theatre on the third Friday of every month. The night kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a live DJ set, and the film begins at 7:30 p.m. Thanks to James Kloiber for the awesome artwork!

JULY 17, 2026 – Do the Right Thing
On July 17th at the Oriental Theatre, the WMSE Friday Night Freak Show is screening Do the Right Thing, a 1989 American independent comedy-drama hood film produced, written and directed by Spike Lee.
The film features an ensemble cast that includes Danny Aiello, Ossie Davis, Ruby Dee, Richard Edson, Giancarlo Esposito, Lee, Bill Nunn, John Turturro and John Savage and is the feature film debut of Martin Lawrence and Rosie Perez. The story explores a Brooklyn neighborhood’s simmering racial tension between its African-American residents and the Italian-American owners of a local pizzeria, culminating in tragedy and violence on a hot summer’s day.
The evening kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with a special live DJ set featuring Dave Cornils of the One Man’s Trash program, then the film starts at 7:30pm.

HISTORY
From 1997 until 2006, and again from 2016 until early 2024, WMSE‘s Friday Night Freak Show delivered a monthly cult film screening to the Times Cinema. Beginning with Friday, September 20, 2024, the series found a new home at Milwaukee Film’s historic Oriental Theatre.
