LOCAL/LIVE – WHITTY REMARKS – 1/20/26
POSTED:: January 14, 2026
FILED UNDER:: In-Studio Performances, Local/Live

Join Music Director Sid McCain and Milwaukee Records Matt Wild for another Local/Live with Whitty Remarks on Tuesday, January 20 at 6 p.m.
Whitty Remarks is the evolved iteration of Milwaukee experimental folk/pop duo Golden Coins. Led by Travis & Ashlee Whitty and enhanced by regular collaborators. The band is set to release their Paltry Sum EP, a companion to last year’s full-length Nary A Care, on Wednesday, January 28th (Travis’ 40th birthday) via Bandcamp both digitally and as a limited run of 50 cassettes. Whereas Nary A Care exists to contextualize a five year father/son grief cycle, the Paltry Sum EP plays out more like the blooming epilogue. Travis sought to bring more light to the family tree by paying respects to his grandmother and grandfather. Songs about gardens, growth, building, repairing, acceptance and perseverance are channeled through six tracks’ worth of anthemic and reserved moments. Recorded at TreeHouse Studios by Ian Olvera & Connor Birdsall. Produced & mixed by Ian Olvera at Fort Sad. Mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room.
Tune into 91.7FM or stream at wmse.org on Tuesday at 6p.m. to hear this live performance and interview.
Local/Live is engineered by Nicholas Elert.
Local/Live is presented by Outpost Co-op, “We believe good food brings us together.” and Cedar Teeth Pizza.
