The album completes their trilogy that started with 2009’s self-titled Absu and 2011’s Abzu. Local/Live: October 15 – Genesis Renji
Oct 15 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Genesis Renji is an Emmy-nominated hip hop artist based out of Milwaukee. Born in Bethesda, MD, Renji started rapping at 12 years-old after his cousin Pierre introduced him to rap music. Freestyles with his brothers and cousin was something he did to fit in. This search for acceptance turned into a passion for performances in middle school and later, spoken word slams in high school.

Renji recently released his new album ‘KEEFE‘ and will officially release it on November 16th with an album release show.

Immolation / Blood Incantation / Ossuary / Cryptual @ Walker's Point Music Hall
Oct 21 @ 7:00 pm – 10:45 pm

Returning to Milwaukee after 10 years since their last show Immolation
Immolation relies on riffs written in dissonant harmonic patterns, often dueling between the two guitars, to progress songs, typically over complex rhythm and drum patterns.[5] Their riffs are often a mixture of fast tremolo picking and a lot of power chords and pinched harmonics to lay down a wall of sound that many bands have tried to use in their own music. Their guitar parts are often highly complex and technically proficient; drum parts are often written to follow the guitar riffs in a way that is unusual for most death metal. They and Incantation helped bring the New York death metal scene to the attention of the underground.[5] Their debut album is frequently cited as being an important and highly influential album, having laid down the blueprint that bands such as Cryptopsy and Suffocation would follow with their respective debuts.[6]

Guitarist Robert Vigna and vocalist/bassist Ross Dolan have been the only constant members throughout the band’s history. Vigna is considered to be one of the most talented death metal guitarists[7] and is well known for his complex riffing and wailing solos.

Mitten Fest @ Burnhearts
Feb 4 @ 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm
It’s back!
For a period of nine years, Burnhearts Mitten Fest has offered a one-day escape from the seasonal doldrums that plague Wisconsinites in wintertime. The February festival brings people together in a two-block stretch on Bay View’s Potter Avenue (and part of Logan in recent years) with a wintry mix of live music, food, beverages, and charity. The event did not take place in 2021 for obvious reasons, but triumphantly returned in early 2022. And we’re pleased to report Milwaukee’s favorite winter celebration is returning to Burnhearts for another installment in 2023.
From noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, Mitten Fest will heat up the neighborhood with live music, craft beer and cocktails, and tasty treats from area food vendors. Today, Milwaukee Record—an official media sponsor of Mitten Fest along with WMSE—is proud to announce the eclectic and altogether awesome musical lineup that will take the stage. Here it is! (Acts listed from headliner to opener)
5:30 p.m. — Convert
4:00 p.m. — Genesis Renji
2:30 p.m. — Credentials
1:00 p.m. — The Steph Lippert Project
(Between-act DJing by Christreater from WMSE)
As if the stacked cast of musicians isn’t enticing enough, Burnhearts will serve rare and limited beers from Central Waters Brewery and Founders Brewing, its famous Brandyland old fashioneds (with Bittercube Bitters), Tito’s Vodka Mitten Palmer, and Valentine Coffee & Whiskey. You can enjoy food from vendors like Twisted Plants, Hue, Troublemakers, Tots On The Street, Meat On The Street, and Roll MKE. As always, Burnhearts will also accept cash and non-perishables for Hunger Task Force, along with clothing donations. It will also be the Mitten Fest debut of Hop Spell Sauna.
Happy Mitten Fest, Milwaukee! We’ll see you there.
