Boz Scaggs @ Pabst Theater
Oct 3 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

It’s appropriate that Boz Scaggs‘ new album is Out of the Blues, since the blues is what first sparked his five-decade musical career.

Born William Royce Scaggs in Canton, Ohio on June 8, 1944, he grew up in Oklahoma and Texas, where he spent his teenage years immersed in the blues, R&B and early rock ‘n’ roll. While attending school in Dallas, he played in local combos. After several years as a journeyman musician around Madison, WI and Austin, TX, Scaggs spent time traveling in Europe, the Middle East and Asia, eventually settling in Stockholm where he recorded the album Boz.

Bruce Dickinson @ The Pabst Theater
Feb 14 @ 8:00 pm – 11:45 pm

Bruce Dickinson is considered one of the world’s most storied musicians. Aside from
decades spent delivering high-octane performances with his larger-than-life persona
in IRON MAIDEN, Bruce has lived an extraordinary off-stage existence too.
A true polymath, his accomplishments include: pilot and airline captain, aviation
entrepreneur, beer brewer, motivational speaker, podcaster, film scriptwriter, twice-
published novelist and New York Times Top 10 best-selling author, radio presenter,
TV actor, sports commentator and international fencer… to name but a few.
So, there’s plenty to be entertained by, throughout the evening’s cornucopia of
fascinating tales and derring-do exploits, all delivered by Bruce with characteristically
infectious enthusiasm and wry wit.

Split into two parts, the first section of the show sees Bruce taking a humorous and
often satirical look at the world from his own very personal perspective, treating the
audience to private insights into his drive and ambition, peppered with plenty of
Maiden anecdotes, and a myriad of other experiences encompassing not just the
giddy heights but also the extreme lows, told first-hand in his inimitable anarchic
style, punctuated with photographs and sometimes even erupting into song a-
capella, to illustrate a point.

The final section of the evening is devoted entirely to a Q&A session, with the
opportunity to pose questions on any subject whatsoever. As Bruce’s answers will all
be completely improvised – the more left-field and quirky the question, the more
interesting and compelling the response is likely to be!

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to spend an up-close and personal evening
with one of the world’s most captivating icons in an intimate environment, as Bruce
Dickinson brings his Evening With show to the U.S. for the very first time, where you
are guaranteed a highly entertaining and enjoyable night out and may even go home
inspired to try something new.

WMSE Presents Drive By Truckers @ Pabst Theater
Mar 11 @ 8:00 pm – 11:45 pm

On the title track to “Welcome 2 Club XIII,” Drive-By Truckers pay homage to the Muscle Shoals honky-tonk where founding members Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley got their start: a concrete-floored dive lit like a disco, with the nightly promise of penny beer and truly dubious cover bands.

Featuring background vocals from the likes of Margo Price, R.E.M.’s Mike Mills, and Mississippi-bred singer/songwriter Schaefer Llana, “Welcome 2 Club XIII” was recorded live with most songs cut in one or two takes, fully harnessing the band’s freewheeling energy.

WMSE Presents Sparks @ Pabst Theater
Jul 6 @ 7:00 pm – 11:15 pm

Most other musicians, when they’ve been working for over half a century, are resting on their laurels, basking in the warm glow of their heritage, accepting the odd Lifetime Achievement Award, playing the odd Greatest Hits tour and concentrating on shifting their back catalogue. But Sparks are not most other musicians. They are utterly unique. With the release of their 26th album, “The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte,” Ron and Russell Mael continue on that unique and uncompromising path. And, in a move that is as unexpected as it is unsurprising, the new bold, genre defying, modern masterpiece will be released by Island Records, the label that released their astonishing breakthrough record “Kimono My House” in 1974.
