Kern Center – MSOE | 1245 N. Broadway, Milwaukee

Since 1999, Milwaukee Empty Bowls has donated $574,630 to help feed those in need in the Milwaukee metro area. More than 95% of the funds raised during this perennially popular event – held around World Food Day – go directly to aid the hungry in our community.

Guests at our October event have their choice from a collection of more than 2,000 ceramic bowls handcrafted and donated by local artists, teachers and students.
Soups prepared by local chefs are served with bread and other refreshments.
Some of the area’s top musicians entertain guests throughout the day.
Guests take their bowls home to serve as a reminder that there are always empty bowls in our community.
With the involvement and support of MSOE, local businesses and more than 200 volunteers, proceeds from this year’s event will benefit several agencies in the Milwaukee area. Recipients will be announced later this spring.

MKE Boatline Concerts – Fri. The Grovelers w/ The Mighty Deerlick Sat. Boney Fingers
Aug 16 @ 8:30 pm – Aug 17 @ 10:30 pm

It’s a great day for a Boat Ride!

Friday – The Grovelers & The Mighty Deerlick

The Grovelers are a four piece band based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They deliver high energy original rock & roll with influences stemming from late 50’s rockabilly, early 60’s garage rock and early 80’s punk rock.

The Mighty Deerlick has been rocking the people since its formation in La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1985, having outlived thousands of other bands, primarily due to not being organized enough to actually break up. Originally called The Slow Pedestrians, the band took on its current moniker upon moving to Milwaukee in 1988. Ever prolific, the band’s prodigious output includes the full-length cassette “Beneath You” (1989), the four-song 7-inch single “Stag Nation” (1990), and the legendary holiday tour-de-force cassette “Bells to the Wall” (1991). Since 1991, they have written several additional songs. The Deerlick has shared the stage with Soul Asylum, the Replacements, the Violent Femmes, Alejandro Escovedo,

Saturday – Boney Fingers

Boney Fingers, Born and raised in Milwaukee, creates an absolutely unique atmosphere sure to entertain music fans of all ages. Boney Fingers transports their audience through many musical vistas and soundscapes, and produces an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. Long known for their ability to weave acoustic and electric into a root style that bridges the gap between jam rock and blues, Boney Fingers has won the hearts of many fans.

MKE Boat Line Concert Cruise – Steez @ Milwaukee Boat Line
Jul 9 @ 9:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Categorization be damned, steez is — in the simplest terms and most convenient definitions — a funk band, a fusion band, a jamband, a disco-fanged multi-beast, and a basket case.

Churning out their self-described creepfunk, a high energy, danceable variety of funk — one uniquely laced with electronic and improvisational sensibilities — steez has garnered a loyal following throughout the midwest performing at music festivals and to capacity crowds at rapidly growing venues.  steez repeatedly receives acclaim for their live performances, which typically include a seamless weaving of thoughtfully composed originals and crowd pleasing covers spanning from Madonna to clever obscurities like Justice, Ratatat and Bob James (to name a a few).
