Obie Yadgar is a familiar name to Milwaukee’s classical music listeners as the longtime host of the Morning Show on the old WFMR. He also worked at WUWM, Milwaukee NPR’s station. Obie started his professional career as a U.S. Army combat correspondent in Vietnam. Later in the States, he drifted into radio starting as a jazz DJ in San Diego. In the following years, radio took him to upstate New York, St. Louis, Milwaukee and Chicago. Obie retired from radio in 2002, but he continued to write. Obie has published two novels, Will’s Music and Whistling to Cairo as well as a book of little stories and anecdotes from the great composers titled Obie’s Opus.
